STRIGIFORMES: Tytonidae
Tyto longimembris
One night, about a year ago, I managed to take a poor-quality photo of an Eastern Grass Owl.
Since then I've modified my night-setup and armed with a new Canon 100-400 MkII lens, I tried again.
The sky was clear, the mozzies weren't too bad, and the bird turned up and flew around a few times.
The flash did not fire on demand every time, but then on one occasion everything went right and I managed a perfect photo. Magic.
